Part time work has some
big implications, not least for your pension (of which more
here). If you
have been used to a full time role, it can be difficult to adjust to sharing
a class or teaching different classes throughout the day. However, if it
works for you (as it does for me) it is a wonderful way to do the job you
love while having time to do other things. Finding a permanent part-time job can be very difficult. There are several circumstances where a part-time job might arise, for example - to cover a specific need (for example PPA time). - to cover non-contact time for a teaching Head or Deputy. - where a full time teacher wants to reduce their teaching commitment, either to work part-time themselves or to take on another role such as an advisor. - where a job share already exists and one partner is leaving. It is also possible to apply for a full-time post as a ready made job share team. A good place to hook up with potential job share partners is flexecutive. I have heard it suggested that potential job sharers can apply for full time posts, presumably in the hope that another jobsharer will do the same thing. I've never tried it myself, it seems like a good way to fill in a lot of application forms to me! The links to the left give more details about this way of working. BUT I'LL NEVER MANAGE ON LESS MONEY!!! Click here for some ideas...
